Grammy News

Veteran R&B great Mary J. Blige collected a leading eight Grammy Award nominations Thursday, including album of the year for her appropriately named work "The Breakthrough." The Red Hot Chili Peppers have six nominations.
Christina Aguilera grabbed two nominations, for best pop female vocal and best pop vocal album for "Ain't No Other Man" as nominees for the 49th annual Grammy Awards were announced Thursday at the Music Box at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood.
One of the favorites heading into the announcement, Blige, took an early nomination for best R&B album. Also nominated in that category were Jamie Foxx, India.Arie, Prince and Lionel Richie.
Another nominees for female pop vocal performance were Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Pink and KT Tunstall.
Male pop vocal performance nominees were James Blunt, John Legend, John Mayer, Paul McCartney and Daniel Powter.
Nominees for album of the year are the Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way," Gnarls Barkley for "St. Elsewhere," John Mayer's "Continuum," Red Hot Chili Peppers for "Stadium Arcadium" and Justin Timberlake for "FutureSex/LoveSounds."
The nominees for record of the year are "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige, "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt, "Not Ready to Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks, "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley and "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae.
The nominees for best new artist are James Blunt, Chris Brown, Imogene Heap, Corinne Bailey Rae and Carrie Underwood.
Winners will be announced Feb. 11 in Los Angeles.
